A Word from President Kelly McFall

Dear Members, Pledges, Alumni and Guests,

I would like to welcome you to the website of the
University of Arizona’s Pre-Law Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International. Phi Alpha Delta (or PAD) is the world’s largest law fraternity and the only co-ed law fraternity for students.  Our motto “Service to the Student, the School, the Profession, and the Community,” sums up the goals of our fraternity and the mindset of our membership.

The
University of Arizona Pre-Law Chapter strives to fulfill that motto each and every semester. Our success has led us to win many national awards over the past 22 years that we have been chartered, including the Best Chapter award for the past 8 consecutive years.  We accomplish this by having a dedicated community of active students in our organization who involve themselves on our campus and in the community of Tucson.

The Arizona Chapter is privileged to host a variety of events for members and member candidates alike. We hold community service dear to our hearts and actively participate in the
Tucson community as often as possible. We have a great ongoing relationship with organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Ronald McDonald House, Casa de los Gatos, and the Beagle Rescue Mission. We consistently participate in charity walks to raise money for causes such as AIDS and cancer research.

Our chapter is also involved in campus activities.  Every year we have run a booth in the University of Arizona’s Spring Fling carnival, the largest student-run carnival in the country, and we actively participate in intramural events throughout the year.  Not only do we play sports such as flag football, soccer, and basketball through the university’s Rec Center, we have also engaged other professional fraternities in games of softball to win the Overachiever’s Cup.  In addition, there is a basketball game each semester between members and member candidates which helps to determine the winner of the President’s Cup.

The profession of law is also important to us, and we hold events specifically aimed at it as well. Our professional events include practice LSAT tests, LSAT strategy sessions, law panels, professional speakers, and more. Each and every year, our chapter also holds the largest student-run law expo in the country. This law expo is open to all students, and last year over 100 law schools attended and this year looks just as promising. Our members and member candidates also get to feel what a real case and courtroom are like as they participate in an inter-chapter mock trial competition every semester.

Fraternalism is, by far, one of the most important aspects of our chapter, and one we emphasize.  The relationship between each and every member and member candidate, brother and sister, is what we try to cultivate in order to bring our chapter together.  You never know who you could meet at an event: your best friend, future roommate, or even future bridesmaid or groomsman.  The link forged between each person of our chapter is what keeps us strong, and what allows our chapter to be so great.

I encourage you to explore our website further. Here you will find important information regarding recruitment, our membership, our events, and our mission. However, to truly gain an understanding of our chapter and what we do, I recommend you attend one of our informational meetings or stop by our booth on the mall at the beginning of each semester, or attend one of our general meetings. We are always open, and we are always friendly and willing to talk.

Fraternally,
Kelly McFall
