Alpha Epsilon Delta is a nationally recognized pre-medical honorary which was founded at the University of Alabama in 1926. The object of AED is to provide members with exposure to various aspects of medicine, stimulate an appreciation of the importance of premedical education in the study of medicine, promote cooperation and contacts between medical and premedical students and educators. In the process, the organization binds together students with similar interests through participation in activities of benefit to health organizations, charities, and the community.
Arizona Beta Chapter
The Beta chapter was founded at the University of Arizona in 1967, and has been an active organization on campus ever since. Our main goal is to further the premedical students education through a variety of means as well as provide service to both the University of Arizona and the Tucson communities. AED members are given the opportunity to shadow physicians of various specialties as well as attend meetings to listen to professionals in the medical field. Members participate in philanthropic volunteer work throughout the community such as in University Medical Center, Arizona Cancer Center, Tucson Medical Center, Kino Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, and Shalom House to name a few. Social functions also take place each semester, which allow members to escape the stress of the daily life of a pre-medical student.
AED members are provided with 15% discount on MCAT prep courses from Princeton. Kaplan offers a $150 discount.
