Arizona Beta Chapter requires that students enter into the organization as a Pledge for 2 semesters. Membership dues for pledges are $60.00 per year. Pledge Minimum (per semester):

• Attendance in 5 general meetings
• 2 Philanthropies
• 2 socials
• 2 fundraiser
• Interview with an executive board member
• In addition, you must take a KAPLAN practice test of your choice before being initiated as an Active Member. (Test may be taken during either semester of pledging, but must be taken before initiation. The practice test may be for entrance into any graduate program of study and includes the following: MCAT, PCAT, DAT, OAT, GRE, GMAT, or LSAT).

After successfully completing the pledge requirements, the member is eligible for initiation to active membership.

Active members are recognized by the national office. Active membership dues are $30.00 per year. They are eligible to hold office among the AED Board as well as are given the privilege to vote in elections or amend the AED constitution. At the time of graduation, active members may be awarded honor cords to be worn during commencement. Active Minimums (per semester):

• Attendance in 2 general meetings
• 1 philanthropy
• 1 social
• 1 fundraiser

If any member cannot attend any of the general meetings, he/she must participate in additional philanthropies to satisfy the meeting requirements. For example, if a Pledge cannot make any of the 5 meetings, he/she has to complete 5 additional philanthropies (total of 7 philanthropies) to replace the meeting requirements. This, however, must be pre-approved by Ami Dave, the AED Secretary, no later than Tuesday, September 18th, 2007.

Important Policy regarding ACTIVES: If an Active Member has not or cannot complete the Active requirements, he/she will be automatically considered Inactive. Each Active Member is allowed one semester of Inactive Membership, after which, the Active Member will need to complete Pledge requirements for the number of semesters the Active Member was considered Inactive before he/she regains Active Member status. Any special circumstances that require the Active Member to be Inactive for more than one semester should be approved by the Executive Board before the Active Member becomes Inactive to be exempted from all penalties.
