Grant Applications
Fellow Model United Nations Programs,
With great pleasure, I would like to inform you of the AMUN scholarship opportunity for this year's conference. Through funding by the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education, we will be able to provide partial and complete funding for a few of Arizona's high schools. Here at AMUN, we understand that the cost of attending our conference can be overbearing for many Model United Nations programs. We appreciate the hard work that you have continuously displayed to ensure that your students will be able to attend our annual gathering. This year, we will be rewarding that effort by providing a scholarship opportunity to approximately 6 schools, with financial assistance covering everything from 50% of all costs to 100% of all costs.
This scholarship is being distributed to help schools who are just starting a Model United Nations program as well as schools that have an established program but have trouble meeting their funding requirements. We hope to help ease the burden of fundraising so as to allow your efforts to instead be put toward lecturing, simulating, and debating. The scholarship will cover the approximate cost of delegate fees, advisor fees, transportation and lodging. To be applicable for the full or partial scholarship your organization needs to provide proof of fundraising attempts in the 2006-2007 school year. We aim to assist Arizona schools, thus we require that your organization is currently putting forth a suitable effort. Any funds that you raise will not be deducted from the scholarship; instead, we hope that if a scholarship is awarded, those funds will be put toward learning materials, educational activities, and ensuring financial stability in the future. If your organization is currently financially stable, please withhold your application and allow the assistance to go to other schools. Scholarships will be awarded based on financial need and involvement with our organization. We also consider if the AMUN program is new or has a new advisor.
As mentioned above, we aim to enhance your ability to teach your students. This is why the other aspect of the scholarship deals with learning materials. We will be purchasing and distributing books that deal in world events, politics, crisis, and overall cultures. The books pertain directly to this year's topics and also include general subject areas that are frequently discussed within the United Nations. This portion of the scholarship fund is open to all schools that have inadequate or aged materials. We will also be conducting more regionals to cover the distributed material.
If you have any questions pertaining to this new program, please don't hesitate to contact us. I look forward to your application!
Best Regards,
Morgan Marguerite Sim and Samantha Stern
