History 2003/2004

Congratulations on the newly elected cabinet for the 2004-2005 school year!! Our new officers are:

  • Jobeth Salt - President
  • Duane Skiles - Vice President
  • Justin Haynes - Treasurer
  • Muthiah Radha - Secretary
  • Ankit Patel - Historian

Congratulations Ms. Perry!!! She successfully tested for her 3rd degree decided black belt on May 17th...AND she made it look easy! Not bad for someone who had food poisoning at the same time, no?

The results are in from Worlds Competition in Singapore!! (Yea, that would be nice, but no. It's really in Arkansas) Mr. Feiles, Ms. Perry, Ms. Adriano, Ms. Dixon, Ms. Newnum, Ms. Bennett, Ms. Young, and Ms. Diana Perry all flew out to the tournament to show those worldly ATA members just what the UA club can do! And show them we did:

  • Ms. Perry placed 1st in sparring and 3rd in weapons in the top ten ring.
  • Ms. Adriano placed 1st in forms
  • Ms. Diana Perry placed 1st in sparring, 2nd in weapons, and 3rd in forms
  • Ms. Newnum placed 3rd in sparring
  • Ms. Bennett placed 3rd in sparring
  • Ms. Young placed 3rd in forms
  • Ms. Dixon (a 2nd degree black belt) ALMOST beat Holly Fraser (a 5th degree black belt) in the sudden death sparring match.
  • Mr. Feiles did not compete, but he did help run the tournament.

Our club instructors also attended certification clinics while at Worlds:

  • Ms. Perry certified in midrange Jahng-Bong
  • Ms. Adriano certified in Olympic-style sparring
  • Mr. Feiles and Ms. Bennett certified in Ssahng- Nat

Be sure to congratulate all of them in class on a job well done and expect some cool new material from our newly certified instructors!!
