What is BMES?

• A Biomedical Engineer uses traditional engineering expertise to analyze and solve problems in biology and medicine, providing an overall enhancement of health care. Students choose the Biomedical Engineering field to be of service to people, to partake of the excitement of working with living systems, and to apply advanced technology to the complex problems of medical care.

• BMES is to promote the increase of Biomedical Engineering knowledge and its utilization.

• We organize visits to BME companies, tour BME labs and invite BME people through industry and academics to talk about current topics in BME.

• Provide a means for undergraduate students to participate in a BME activity for those doing the ‘Specialization in BME'

• Be a liason to the U of A for the National BMES

• Provide a an informal setting where students interested in BME can meet and talk about school, research, or anything else!
