? Shane is a boy who lives in Ontario, Canada who was diagnosed with leukemia.
He wants to set the Guinness World Record for the most birthday cards received
with a goal of 1 million birthday cards by May 30.
o We will be signing cards for those affected by the Virgina Tech Massacre in
the near future.

o Better World Books Used Textbooks Drive
? We will be working with Campaign against Poverty to organize a collection of
used textbooks in the Residence Halls to send to Sub-Saharan Africa. For each
textbook that we collect that is less than five years old, our club will
receive 50 cents. Meet with Jennifer Phillips after the meeting to get
involved.

? District Committee Chairs
o The Conventions and Conferences Chair must be from U of A this year, as
District Convention will take place in Tucson. If you are interested, consider
applying for the position. The applications for this and other positions are

? Beads of Courage Internship Position
o Jean Baruch, the president and founder of Beads of Courage, is looking for an
intern for the summer to work about 10 hours per week for $8-10 per hour.
? Summer Orientation
o If you are going to be in Tucson over the summer and might be available
between 11:30 AM and 1 PM on various dates, consider manning a table at summer
orientation to get the word out to incoming students.
? Large Scale Service Project and International Convention in Portland, Oregon
o July 30 ? August 3 and August 4-7
o Scholarships are available for LSSP ? With proof of travel, the $160
registration fee, which includes food and lodging for the entire week, will be
covered.
