The Who, What, When, and Where of Volunteering

For Football, Volleyball, Women's Basketball,
Gymnastics, Soccer, Softball and Baseball

Football

Football is one of our most important sports due to the large number of fans we will come in contact with throughout each game day.  It is also the sport that consistently requires the highest number of volunteers and is a great place to get to know other SMAers.

Who:

8 - 15 Volunteers

What Will We Be Doing?:

Most volunteers work at Fan Fiesta.  Within Fan Fiesta, some will work at stations where fans are able to test their QB skills throwing footballs, others will help youngsters run through our running inflatable where participants will run through some inflatable linemen and up and over an inflatable wall.  We also have a table within Fan Fiesta where someone will sit and give away posters, stickers, etc.

Also, every game we have a giveaway in the north and south end of the stadium. (in the Circle K Red Zone and Bruegger's KnotHole)  SMAers will be in charge of giving away beads, foam fingers, tshirts, etc.

What Should We Wear?:

SMAers should wear their SMA shirts or Active Volunteer Polos with a pair of khaki shorts or pants.  If someone doesn't have an SMA shirt they should wear a red or blue Arizona shirt and if someone doesn't have khaki's just wear something similar, we don't mind.

When Should We Show Up?:

For 4 O'clock games, SMAers should arrive at Noon and plan to stay until 4:10.

For 7 O'clock games, SMAers should arrive at 3:30 and plan to stay until 7:10.

Where Should We Go?:

All SMAers should meet on Bear Down Field.

McKale

Volleyball, Women's Basketball and Gymnastics are great sports to volunteer at because they are slower paced and allow SMAers to get Sports Marketing experience without the time commitment of a Football game.  (Not to mention the air conditioning!)

Who:

3 - 5 Volunteers

What Will We Be Doing?:

SMAers will be passing out programs, helping fans enter contests, making sure we're all set up for our on-court promotions and executing the on-court promotions.

For 7 O'clock games, SMAers should arrive at 6 and plan to stay until 8:30.

Where Should We Go?:

All SMAers should meet inside McKale, we have a marketing table set up by the entrance to the arena seating. This table is found by entering the McKale Center to the left of the main ticket office and proceeding down the hallway (not down the ramp) and around the corner to the left.

Soccer

Soccer is a great sport for SMAers to volunteer at to get the sports marketing experience. The stadium is located off campus, so if you want to volunteer but need a ride, let the Eboard know!

Baseball-Sancet

Baseball is a very fun sport that allows SMAers to throw out prizes, participate in giveaways, and help with the ever popular "Dizzy Bat Race!"  One of the perks of Baseball is the ability to choose from a large number of home games to volunteer, being a sport that you can fit into your schedule.

Who:

3 - 5 Volunteers

What Will We Be Doing?:

SMAers will be passing out programs, choosing contestants for our crowd and field promotions, throwing out Pepsi stress balls for every run and executing the crowd and on-field promotions.

Softball

Softball is very similar to Baseball but instead of the "Dizzy Bat Race" SMAers will be helping with the "Amazing Helmet Race."  One difference with Softball is the addition of "Bingo" which keeps one person busy watching the game taking down numbers, and getting those numbers to the PA announcer.

SMAers will be passing out programs, helping fans sign up for our crowd and on-field promotions, setting up to count BINGO throughout the game and executing the crowd and on-field promotions.
