Fall Activities Report
This semester TBS Omega packed as much service as we could into a very busy marching band schedule! Much of our service focused around the marching band, such as cleaning the uniform room, helping with uniform checkout, and selling our band's "Monkey Feet" cd with proceeds going to benefit cancer research. We also continued to produce our infamous weekly band publication - The Leaky Bugle, headed up by editor Nick Proch.

We also focused on spreading music in the community by volunteering to teach kids about music at the Salvation Army, Instrumental Music Center, Lineweaver Elementary, and Sunshine Elementary. We also played holiday music at a home for mentally handicapped adults in December, helped run Suncon marching festival for local high school bands, and worked back stage at a charity concert. And of course, we were the workforce and organizers of U of A Band Day marching competition that over 20 high school bands look forward to each year.

This year we totally revolutionized our Family Weekend Luncheon to be an outdoor catered lunch right off the marching field under shady canopee tents. It was very successful, and we earned a profit for the first time in years, thanks to the hard work of committee chair Holly Wilberger!

We also registered students to vote in the Presidential Election, participated in a food drive, and sponsored two children for Angel Tree. Mix all of this in with some fun social events such as a historical photo scavenger hunt and a progressive dinner, and TBS Omega had a fabulous semester!

Spring Service Report
This semester Omega had a very busy semester of service packed on top of a lot of traveling and fundraising. We kicked off the semester with a very unique service project. We volunteered at the Super Bowl and sold programs to benefit the Arizona Academy of the Performing Arts. $4 out of each $20 program went to help the performing arts in Arizona, and we had a BLAST at the game! We got to go inside the stadium to sell and got to watch a lot of the game and halftime show.

For District Day of Music we attended an orchestra concert and paid the $5 donation at the door to support the music department. Orchestra is one of the areas of our music department that we have the least involvement with, so it was great to support them.

We started March by volunteering at Cats in the Community Day and helped remodel a homeless shelter in Tucson. We then volunteered at the Salvation Army after school program and played music for the kids and had an instrument petting zoo. The next weekend we volunteered at a KKY Alumni's new high school band room and helped him clean and organize the whole place. In April, some of our members participated in a Rely for Life team. We also organized the music library for a high school band run by a TBS Honorary.

We ended the semester by helping Girl Scouts earn their music badge by running a program teaching them all about music and marching bands. We let them play our instruments, try on band uniforms, listen to world music, helped them make instruments and taught them how to march and do the pom line dance. It was a lot of fun and the girls really enjoyed it!

Bylaw Revisions
This semester we undertook the tedious task of revising our bylaws. The new bylaws were compleated on April 28, and can be found under the "Resources" section of this website. Round of applause for Paliamentarian Kenny Contrata!

Western District Convention 2008
From March 21-33 seven members of TBS Omega traveled to Boise, Idaho for WDC! We had a very strong showing for how far away that is! Our very own Garrett Matlick was elected Western District VPSP! We also won the "For Community's Sake" Award for our service project with the women's shelter, and the "Delegate Distance Award" because we traveled the furthest to get there! Special thanks to Rachel Bennett for heading up the display and talent show!

State Day
A bunch of Omegans headed up to snowy Flagstaff, Az on Feb. 8-10th to visit our closest sister chapter and attend AZ State Day! It was a blasty blast, so a big thank you to Alpha Chi and Gamma Kappa for hosting!

District Leadership Convention
We kicked off spring semester with a bang by attendinf District Leadership convention! DLC was right around the corner this year, in Tempe AZ, and nine of us were able to go! We had such an amazing experience and brought back a lot of new ideas and fun memories. It was great to be able to hang out with sisters and brothers from all over the West without the craze of convention. Special thanks to Beta Omicron for hosting!

Fall Service Report
This semester, as always was jam-packed with service while balancing out the busy marching season. We started out by volunteering all throughout band camp, beginning with picking freshmen up from the airport, moving them into dorms, band camp registration, and providing water and field assistance throughout the long week.

We continued to serve the marching band throughout the season. One of our big service projects was putting on a Family Weekend luncheon and merchandise table to raise money. The Leaky Bugle weekly band publication was also in full swing again this year, which we put a lot of work into. We also helped with uniform check out and check in. And as always, we set up and fund a concert reception after every major ensemble performance.

We also went out into the community to volunteer at Make A Difference Day by clearing a basin to be turned into a playground. It was very hot and sweaty work, but we had a lot of fun, and even found a watermelon!

One of the most successful things we did was start a Community Service Band with our brother chapter, and recruited performers from the marching band, as well as ourselves to play at the Veterans Hospital and Salvation Army. We plan on developing this into a large group that can do many service gigs in the future.

And of course, the joint Omega chapters ran the monolith of service projects: UA Band Day, without a hitch. Well, maybe one lost walkie-talkie, but all and all it was a tremendous success. High school bands from all over the state came to compete and to see the UA Band. A good time was had by all, and a good night’s sleep was had the next day.

We ended the semester by helping with the UA Honor Band, and donating toys and clothes to Angel Tree for underprivileged children around the holidays.
