About Us

The Flying Club was formed as a result of the love of aviation and flying. Our mission is to help students who are interested in flying, for fun or as a career, as well as students interested in aviation, to discover and experience the joy of flying. The club is a great place for students to talk with other aviation enthusiasts, meet pilots in the area and talk to guest speakers from various fields in the aviation industry. The club is open to and welcomes all students. And the best part is you don’t have to know anything about flying!

The club dues are $20/semester which includes all of the activities that the club takes part in such as flyouts, regular meetings, end of the semester hangar parties and visits to local aviation attractions such as the Pima Air and Space Museum.

Our recent activities have included: Flyout to Eloy to watch skidiving
Flyout to Casa Grande airport for the annual Cactus Fly In
Visit to the Pima Air and Space Museum
Tour of the Tucson Internation Airport Control Tower
Tour of the A-10 facility at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base by a A-10 pilot
Ground School class getting members ready for the FAA Private Pilot written Exam
													and many more...

A typical flyout consists of a few of the club pilots getting their planes together on a weekend and flying out to a destination with other club members. We all drive down to the local airport such as Tucson International Airport or Ryan Field and fly to our final destination such as Chandler or Bisbee. As a front seat passenger, you might even get some hands on flying! We have flown to many destinations across Arizona in planes such as Cessna 172, Cessna 185, Cessna 182, Cessna 170 and Cessna 310 (twin Engine). If you are a pilot, this is also a great way to gain experience at a lower than normal cost. As a club pilot, if you take club members on a club sponcered flyout, you will be paid the appropriate pro rata share of your passengers. As a passenger, you will not have to pay any additional fees to attend flyouts, all you have to do is pay the club dues.

A typical club meeting consists of: Discussion of the Club Agenda of the day
Discussing plans for future events such as flyouts and guest speakers
A club activity which may be a guest speaker or other aviation related item
And a plenty of time to talk to others about anything you want

We hope that this information has sparked an interest in joining the Flying Club. To join the club please visit Club Listserv/How to Join link and follow the directions. Also check out our Calender of Events for our club activities.
