Membership Policies Spring 2005 (Fall 2005 Membership Policies subject to change)

Attendance

Practices are mandatory. Each player must attend every practice unless cleared by the coach at least 24 hours in advance. Tardiness to practice will not be tolerated, unless the coach has been notified in advance. Players should be at the gym no later than 7:45p.m.

Fundraisers are also mandatory. Each member of the club is needed to run a successful fundraiser, and unless there are extenuating circumstances, you are expected to be there and on time. If you are running late you need to notify two officers. Absences as well as excessive tardiness from practices or fundraisers may affect your playing time.

Fundraising/Club Activities

Fundraising is an extremely important part of the club's activity throughout the year. We have high expectations of the club, but we will not meet those expectations without fundraising. It is expected that every member of the club actively participate in each fundraiser. Fundraisers are not only to raise money for the club it is to promote bonding with all the club members. If you cannot attend an event you need to notify at least two officers in advance. If a fundraiser is missed you will have to make it up by paying the appropriate amount outlined below:

Car Washes:

If you miss a car wash for whatever reason you will owe the club money. The list of Car Wash dates are on the calendar so you have ample notice of when the car washes are. You can choose to pay $40.00 to the club for each car wash you miss or you can work a double shift at the following car wash and only owe the club $20.00.

*Each car wash will be from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. There will be two shifts that are 4 hours long on each day. One from 8-12 and one from 12-4. You are required to be there for one shift.

Krispy Kreme Donuts:

You are required to sell 5 boxes of Krispy Kreme Donuts at $7.00 per box. We will give you sign up sheets two weeks in advance and the donuts will be delivered on February 14th. If you do not want to sell Krispy Kreme’s you will owe the club $35.00. Either way you are required to give the club $35.00. The sign up sheets and/or money is due by February 8, 2005.

Conquistador Tickets:

You are required to sell 10 Conquistador raffle tickets at $10 a piece. If you do not want to sell the raffle tickets you will owe the club $100. Before you receive the Raffle tickets to sell you will either give the club $100.00 or write us a check that we will not cash. In that case you will have to turn in $100.00 on February 8, 2005. The 10 Raffle ticket stubs are also due by February 8, 2005.

Grades

One of the club's goals is to develop an elite standing at the regional and national levels. We strongly desire to have a reputation of success on and off the court. Since the main focus of college is to pursue a higher education, certain academic standards must be met by all club members. Therefore, a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 must be maintained in order to participate in any of the tournaments. Failure to do so shall be grounds for suspension or dismissal from the club.

Conduct

As a recognized club at the University of Arizona, we should represent the university in an appropriate manner. Any offensive or improper behavior by any club member at practice, tournaments, fundraisers, and other club sponsored events will not be tolerated.

Payment policies

Each member of the club must pay monthly dues of $50.00 to the club treasurer. Payment is due the first practice of the month. Thereafter, a $5.00 late fee will apply. That $5.00 late fee will apply for a week. If dues are still not paid within that time, then another $5.00 late fee will be added. The maximum anyone will ever pay per month is $60.00. If you have not paid your dues by the third week of the month - you will not be allowed to practice until all dues are paid. Dues are like a bill, so please be responsible. You are encouraged to pay them early in order to avoid being assessed a late fee. Dues serve as income to pay coach's salaries and to help with various other costs associated with operating the club. If this presents a hardship at any time, arrangements may be made with the treasurer to work out a structured payment option. Just let the treasurer know before dues are to be paid.

If you write a bad check to the club or if you have written a bad check in the past, you will be responsible for all fees incurred on behalf of the club and you will no longer be able to pay by personal check. From that point on - the only forms of payment we will accept from you are cash and money order.

Money Owed

Any money that you owe the club from the previous semester has to be paid in full by March 22, 2004. You will be given a piece of paper stating what you owe the club. If you do not owe the club any money you will not receive a paper stating what you owe. You will have until February 22, 2005 to pay half of what you owe the club. This is the Tuesday before we travel to the UC Boulder tournament. If you do not pay half of what you owe you will not go to or participate in the UC Boulder Tournament. You will also not be allowed to practice until you pay half of the amount owed. The remainder of what you owe has to be paid by March 22, 2005. If you fail to pay this amount you will not be allowed to go to or participate in the West Coast Championships in Las Vegas. You will also not be able to participate in practices until you pay the remainder owed.

Everyone is required to purchase a sweatshirt, it is part of the uniform. Each sweatshirt costs $25.00 You will have until February 22, 2005 to pay for your sweatshirt. If you do not pay the $25.00 you will not be allowed to go to or participate in the UC Boulder tournament, nor come to practices until you pay for your sweatshirt.

*Since you pay dues each month to play it is in your best interest to pay what you owe A.S.A.P. This way you are able to fully participate in and enjoy what you are paying for.

Nationals T-Shirts

Every year at Nationals before the Men’s Division I Championship match there is a T-shirt exchange. Usually each club makes a special T-shirt just for Nationals. Most of these t-shirts have some kind of Volleyball innuendo on the back. For example “I gave my kneepads to your girlfriend” or “Volleyball players do it in 6 different positions”. This year we are going to have a contest to see who can come up with the best t-shirt design/ saying. The girl who wins will only have to pay $25.00 in dues for the month of April. These T-shirts do represent the club so try to not use profane language. All ideas will be due by March 8, 2005 so we have ample time to order T-shirts. These T-shirts are not a required purchase but are recommended so that you can trade for other cool shirts.

Uniforms

All girls are required to wear the uniforms tops provided to them by the club. They are also required to purchase two blue practice shirts, one red long sleeve warm up shirt, two pairs of black spandex, and one sweatshirt. All of these items are considered part of the club uniform.
