After graduating high school, Angela attended Mesa Community College where she was an active member of the biotechnology club and program. She became interested in science and participated in the Helios funded summer internship program at the Translational Genomics Institute where she worked in Dr. Daniel Von Hoff's pancreatic cancer research lab. Soon after she transferred to University of Arizona, she was accepted into the Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC) program. She is currently getting her Bachelors of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology, and working in Dr. Richard B. Levine's lab. She is also a member of the African Americans in Life (AALS) sciences club. Angela plans to peruse graduate school and eventually work in academia doing research on human diseases.

kelena

Kelena Jones

Kelena was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area in the sunny state of California. She has three siblings and a large extended family. Her favorite things to do when not in school are reading and recreational bicycling. She spent her first two years of college at Saint Mary's College of California, in Moraga, California, before deciding to come to the Univerisity of Arizona to pursue a BFA in Theater Education. Now a senior in the program, Kelena hopes to continue to impact students with the arts after she graduates in May 2010. She would like to further her studies in the dramatic arts and become a certified Drama Theapist. Kelena has taught many young people from Kindergarden through high school, in summer programs, after school enrichment programs and in a preschool with Jumpstart, a partner with AmeriCorps. She looks forward to the summer as a Team Leader for Camp Galileo one of the most renown day camps in the Bay Area and later in the fall of 2009, as she will be directing the ETC (educational theater company) production of Amazing Grace.
