The HRGames

2006 HRGames winners!
The University of Arizona student SHRM chapter is the HR Games Arizona State Champions! The team comprised of Tara Usrey, Dane Sorensen, and Risé Reed. This team will go on to compete in Regionals representing the state of Arizona in Denver, CO. on April 7th and 8th.

The winning answer was broadbanding or "an effort to make job evaluation more compatible with the de-layering of organizations by combining several salary grades or job classifications with narrow pay ranges into one band with a wider salary spread."

Along with winning the State title, each winning team member won $500 in scholarship money, a scholarship to take the Human Resource Certification Institute exam, miniature trophies, and a team trophy that is displayed in the MAP department inside the Eller College of Business building.

But the news doesn’t stop there. We would also like to congratulate our third place U of A team. This team comprised of Marisol Alvarez, Genoveva Douros, and Adebola Ayodele. This team did such an outstanding job during the competition that they were given the Congeniality award for their positive attitudes.

The HR Games Competition was a highlight for our chapter for the year, because it allowed a number of us to work together for a common goal. While the competition itself was fun and exciting, the journey towards competing was also a great experience. Everyone who competed highly recommends other student members or their friends to compete next year.

If you would like to get more information on the next HR Games or how the competition works, contact our SHRM liaisons or a student officer at the next meeting.
